Smart Battery Sense The Smart Battery Sense is a wireless battery voltage and temperature sensor for Victron MPPT Solar chargers. With a voltage and temperature sensor, the batteries are charged better, the charging efficiency is improved and the service life of the battery is extended. Thecharging of the battery is improved By measuring the voltage directly at the connections of the battery bank, errors caused by voltage loss due to cable resistance are avoided. In this way, the correct charging voltage is ensured. For lead batteries, the battery temperature data is used to adjust the charging voltages: cold batteries require a higher charging voltage, whereas hot batteries require a lower charging voltage. For Lithium batteries, the temperature data is used to stop charging if the Batteries are too cold: Charging Lithium batteries at temperatures around freezing or below will permanently damage the cells.
