In some cases, this is not possible because the draft of the Yacht is too shallow, especially as the stern thruster system must not protrude below the Hull to act as a brake. If a Stern thrusters is not sufficiently immersed in the water, the Propeller will suck in a lot of air, with a considerable loss of efficiency as a consequence. VETUS has now developed an extension kit for all Stern thrusters with a tunnel diameter of Ø 150, 185, 250 or 300 mm to ensure that the two tunnel openings are deep enough below the waterline.
