DESCRIPTION Many

systems still use NMEA 0183 for connectivity. It is a simple two-wire system, but there are no Standard color codes or connector types. This means that installers have to find their own solution. NMEA devices that transmit data are called "talkers". They are connected to devices that receive data - so-called "listeners". In other words: NMEA OUT goes to NMEA IN. A plus and minus polarity for NMEA data involves two wires. While a talker can transmit to multiple listeners (typically up to 5 devices), two talkers cannot be connected together without the use of a special multiplexer.
