DESCRIPTION The

iKonvert NMEA2000-0183 converter is a smart and flexible gateway that allows software applications to read or write NMEA2000 data. This is done either as RAW binary PGN data for ultimate analysis and Steering, or converted to the older and more commonly supported NMEA0183 data.

popular marine navigation application running on PC/MAC/LINUX computers can read NMEA0183 data. For all of these programs, iKonvert provides a simple, reliable and cost-effective way to access the navigation data on an NMEA2000 network. Simple set the DIP switches in iKonvert to the desired data mode and iKonvert extracts the selected data from the NMEA2000 network. This is then made available to your marine application in a format and at a baud rate that you support.

developers who are developing new applications or know how to decode NMEA2000 PGNs, iKonvert can easily be set to "RAW mode". This allows the data to be read and written in a Simple serial data format. We publish this data format on our iKonvert Github page. No special libraries or proprietary code are required to integrate iKonvert. Simple fact has attracted the interest of a number of developers, so it is already compatible with CanBoat and the popular Signal K Node Server.

Digital Yacht's iKonvert converter is housed in a compact and easy-to-mount case, with an integrated USB cable and a standard NMEA2000 micro drop cable (connector). iKonvert operates at a baud rate of 230KB in "RAW mode" and 4.8KB, 38.4KB or 115KB in NMEA0183 conversion mode and provides complete galvanic isolation between the USB interface and the NMEA2000 network. All modes can be easily selected via the internal DIP switches without the need for special configuration software or firmware changes.

iKonvert USB interface features an FTDI chip with the most reliable and compatible USB drivers for all major operating systems (Windows/Mac/LINUX/Android), while an ISO version of iKonvertwill soon be released for direct connection between NMEA2000 and NMEA0183 systems.
